"Monuments to Our Failure" is the debut album of Nerobove, Sicilian band born in 2012 as See You Leather, playing thrash/death metal with black, prog and doom influences.
“Failure has already been announced. It’s our failure, the one experienced by everyone who keeps believing in making music, releasing albums and playing on stage” comment the band about the album's title and themes, “but in a broader sense this is also the failure of a generation born and grown up in a climate of crisis guiltily caused by those who were here before us – the monuments. They seem to be untouchable, but maybe they’re to be questioned instead.”
This conflict between past and present is the core theme of Monuments to Our Failure. Four guys are stuck in a historical moment with no mid tone, between total apathy and impetuous violence. They’re feeling an artistic and human struggle: do they need to learn from their predecessors? Do they have to reject their bad examples? These questions have no answer.
